Colorado will begin its 2020 MLB season on the road against the Texas Rangers on Friday. Fans may be dismayed to see that CO sportsbooks predict a loss in the Rockies opener.
Five online sportsbooks taking bets in CO have a consensus that Colorado won’t start off the season with a win, but some of them do have promos available for the game, which might be of some appeal regardless. To what extent they pay off does depend on bettors’ wisdom, however.
Lines on the Rockies opener at CO online sportsbooks
Among those apps with moneyline and other markets for Friday’s Rangers-Rockies game, slated to start at 5:05 p.m. MST, are the following:
The most generous line on the Rockies pulling off the upset is a toss-up between BetMGM and Fox Bet right now at +115. Both of those books also offer run spreads and totals.
The most attractive spread at BetMGM is on the Rangers -2.5 at +210. Fox Bet has some longer odds for bettors willing to take on greater risk, like a +625 line on the Rangers winning by three or four runs.
The starting pitching matchup is German Márquez for Colorado versus Lance Lynn for Texas. Lynn, who is coming off a season in which he completed the third-highest, single-season strikeout total for a Rangers pitcher ever, has a respectable 2.77 strikeout-to-walk ratio in seven games against the Rockies in his career.
While it looks like Colorado might get off to a rocky start, that doesn’t have to be the case for bettors in CO. Three CO sports betting apps have promos that could be home runs.
MLB promos at CO sports betting apps for Friday
BetRivers has a three-leg parlay involving the Rockies, which will pay out +605 if all three legs win. Those legs are Colorado, the Chicago Cubs and the New York Mets to all win their games on Friday.
DraftKings is offering a boost for Thursday’s and Friday’s games that Colorado third baseman Nolan Arenado and outfielder David Dahl may play a part in making pay off. To take advantage of the boost, simply place a wager of up to $25 on DraftKings’ “Any 2019 All-Star to Hit a Home Run on MLB Opening Days” market.
If Arenado, Dahl or any other player on the list hits a home run on Friday, you enjoy a +100 payout on your wager. You must place your wager on this market with the boost by 7 p.m. EST today (July 23), however.
FanDuel has some assurance against a lead blown by Colorado’s bullpen. You can use the “7th Inning Stretch Insurance,” on Friday’s Rockies game if you wish.
Just place a bet on the moneyline of the Rockies game before the first pitch on Friday. If the team you selected is winning in the middle of the seventh inning but ultimately loses the game, FanDuel will refund your wager, up to $50, in site credit.
Both DraftKings and FanDuel also have specials on World Series futures right now as well. If you’re especially optimistic about Colorado this year, this may be the time to put in those wagers.
Just do so with the knowledge that CO sportsbooks don’t share your optimism. As a matter of fact, they expect a long season to begin with a loss in Friday’s Rockies opener.
