Colorado Sportsbooks Call Esports Betting Markets Into Duty

June 12 is going to be a great day for esports betting this year. Not only does the League of Legends Summer Split begin, but the Call of Duty League has five highly-touted matches on tap as well.

To enhance fans’ enjoyment, Colorado sports betting apps have markets available on the action. Whether bettors prefer Summoner’s Rift, Nuketown, or both, they can get some skin in the game.

CO sportsbooks with live COD and LOL esports betting markets

Ahead of Friday’s action, three CO online sportsbooks take the lead in offering action on COD and LOL. Those legal sportsbooks operating online in Colorado are:

  • BetMGM
  • BetRivers
  • FOX Bet

BetMGM and FOX Bet have markets available on both COD and LOL events, while BetRivers is currently only taking bets on COD action. BetMGM and FOX Bet have action available on the full menu of LCK (League of Legends Champions Korea), LCS (League of Legends Championship Series), and LEC (League of Legends European Championship) fixtures for LOL.

BetRivers does have other esports action, as it remains the only US legal sports betting app to feature markets on the NBA 2K League. That league has yet to achieve the following that COD and LOL have, however.

LOL remains the most popular esports product for wagering worldwide. Coloradans can join that fray on Friday.

LCS Summer Split markets at BetMGM and FOX Bet

The start of the Summer Split is one of the most anticipated days of the year for LOL bettors. The most popular circuit for CO bettors, the LCS, should be as exciting as the Spring Split.

So far, BetMGM and FOX Bet are offering moneyline and props on this weekend’s matches. It’s uncertain whether either app will offer futures on the Split.

The first match of the LCS Summer Split should be a competitive one. Two of the teams in the LCS “final four” for the Spring Split will face off, with Evil Geniuses a slight favorite over 100 Thieves.

After its somewhat expectations-defying 17-1 flourish in the spring, Cloud9 opens the summer as Friday’s heaviest favorite. BetMGM has Cloud9 at -500 and FOX Bet has them at -450 on a two-way moneyline to prevail over FlyQuest.

Perhaps the best prop bet is at BetMGM on the first map of the 100 Thieves/Evil Geniuses match. The line for Handicap Kills for the map is 5.5, with Evil Geniuses sitting +100 on the under.

BetRivers holds its own this weekend with COD group and week futures along with moneylines on each match. The odds largely reflect the teams’ last performances.

Week 9 COD lines at BetRivers

Atlanta FaZe will look to become the first COD League team to claim three weekly titles for the 2020 season and for that reason, BetRivers has Atlanta as its Group A and Week 9 favorite at -155 and +175 respectively.

Atlanta is also the heaviest favorite in the moneyline markets. The odds there currently sit at an astounding -5,000 over the Seattle Surge.

If Seattle pulls off the upset, it might be due to its recent lineup change. Nicholas “Proto” Maldonado will replace the recently retired Damon “Karma” Barlow for the Surge.

BetRivers favors the Chicago Huntsmen to win Group B at a respectable -200. Chicago is a -286 favorite over the Florida Mutineers to start off play.

The closest thing to a pick’em for Week 9 is the opening match, Los Angeles Guerrillas vs. Toronto Ultra. BetRivers’ handicap for that match is just 1.5.

When it comes to legal esports betting in the US, Colorado is second to none. The weekend starting on Friday, June 12 is more evidence of that.
